Jenkins Named Second Team All-Region

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State baseball standout and recent 20th overall selection in the MLB Draft Chad Jenkins received another honor Friday afternoon when he was named Second Team All-South Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association. The award, presented by Rawlings, is just another feather in the cap for Jenkins. The Canton, Ga., native was named A-Sun Pitcher of the Year, First-Team All-Atlantic Sun, Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-District, and Baseball Magazine Third-Team All-American. The list of awards post-season almost matches the list of accomplishments Jenkins had during the season. the righty posted a record of 8-1 with an ERA of 2.54. During the season, Jenkins had a scoreless innings streak that reached 41.0 innings, while also having a consecutive innings streak without a walk that reached 24.2 innings. Three times during 2009, Jenkins was named A-Sun Pitcher of the Week. The hurler had five complete games to his credit along with 98 strikeouts in 92 innings. "I'm really happy for Chad to have received this award," said KSU head baseball coach Mike Sansing. "Working with the ABCA, I know how impressive it is to be recognized by this organization. Chad is very deserving of this honor." |
