MACON, Ga. - After an impressive performance in the Walt Disney World Invitational on Saturday, October 11, Kennesaw State's Scott Burley was named Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week, in an announcement by the conference office on Wednesday.

Burley placed seventh out of 324 competitors to lead the Owls to a fourth place finish out of 38 teams. He crossed the finish line with a time of 25:44.80.

The award was Burley's second of 2008 and third overall. Burley won his first award of the season on September 3, after leading the Owls to a first place finish at the Jacksonville State Invitational. Burley placed second in the race, a 5k, with a time of 15:46.

"It has been great to be back this season, after red-shirting last year," Burley said. "It is always an honor to be recognized by the conference. The entire team has come a long way since the start of the season.

"The meet at Disney was a great confidence boost for all of us, to face the level of competition we did and still place fourth. If we can carry that momentum with us, we expect to do extremely well at the conference championships."
