Baker Named Second Team All-Conference

March 3, 2009

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State women's basketball senior Jennifer Baker was given a great honor to cap her playing career when she was named Second Team All-Atlantic Sun on Tuesday afternoon in an announcement by the conference office.

"I am really thrilled for Jennifer to receive this recognition," said KSU head coach Colby Tilley. "Jennifer has been a hard worker for us all four years with the program. She is truly deserving of this, and I really do congratulate her."

Baker finished her Kennesaw State career with 1,109 points, becoming the eighth-person all-time to score 1,100 points. She also became the first person to score 1,000 points for Kennesaw State strictly in the Division I era.

The Soperton, Ga., native averaged 12.9 points per game for the Lady Owls, including averaging 13.0 in conference games. Baker averaged 5.8 rebounds per game for KSu, the third best average on the team. She led the squad in assists per game with 3.1, and finished second in steals with 47.

Baker finished with her most points scored in a season over her four-year career at 373. She played in more minutes than any other Kennesaw State player, and hit on more field-goal and three-point attempts than any other KSU player. She led the Lady Owls to a winning record for the second consecutive season, as the Lady Owls finished with a 15-14 overall mark, and an 11-9 record in A-Sun play.

Siarre Evans and Latisha Belcher of East Tennessee State were named A-Sun Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively. Florida Gulf Coast's Kelsey Jacobson and her head coach, Karl Smesko, were named A-Sun Freshman of the Year and Coach of the Year.
