Final Stats

OXFORD, Miss. - Playing in its last event before the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, the Kennesaw State women's golf team finished ninth at Ole Miss' Rebel Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Oxford over the weekend.

Ashley Aguilera continued her strong play, leading the Owls in a second-straight event after coming in seventh. Aguilera, who tied for seventh at the Owls own Larry Nelson Collegiate Invitational early last week, carded 76's in her first two rounds before tying for Sunday's low round with a 72. Her 224 total was her second-lowest as an Owl, while her even par 72 was her lowest total in three events.

The Owls as a team finished with a 940, 54-hole total, shooting 314 in the first two rounds before closing with a 312 on Sunday. Among the teams the Owls defeated was A-Sun rival Belmont who came in 12th at 965. They also bested Memphis (10th, 954), South Alabama (11th, 956), and Alabama-Birmingham (13th, 986).

Freshman Patricia Arana (78-77-79) turned in a 234 total to finish tied for 29th, while Malin Becker grinded through a shoulder injury to finish tied for 50th at 243. Arana contributed a score to the team effort in all three rounds while Becker's second round 79 and her closing 80 helped pace the Owls.

Laura Lindsey finished just a stroke behind Becker, tying for 53rd after recording a 244 total. A second round 87 derailed Jordan Lazenby's hopes for another top 25 finish, resulting in a 249 total and solo 64th.

Tulane claimed the team title with an 889 total, outscoring the host Rebels by 12 strokes. Ole Miss' Dori Carter took the individual title after defeating Linn Gustafsson (Tulane) on the first playoff hole. The two finished regulation play with a one-over par 217 total.

The team will return home for a week of practice before competing in its first-ever A-Sun Championship on April 12th-14th in DeLand, Fla.
