Lazenby Leads Owls at A-Sun
April 14, 2009
Day Two Complete Results DeLand, Fla. - Jordan Lazenby continued to lead the Owls at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on Tuesday, carding a three-over par 75 to move herself into a tie for 11th at 151. After storms delayed the start of play by over four hours, the Owls carded a team 312 to drop a spot on the leaderboard into sixth. Their 622 total has them just one stroke behind fifth place Belmont and five shots behind fourth place Florida Gulf Coast. Lazenby combined a pair of birdies with two bogeys for an even-par 36 on the frontside before coming down the stretch in 39. She was steady on the day, recording par on 13 holes while never exceeding bogey. The Florida native is only three strokes out of the top five and just four strokes out of third place. Laura Lindsey also improved upon her opening round score, shooting a five-over 77 to move into a tie for 27th at 157. Lindsey was solid down the stretch, getting to two-under par on the back nine with birdies on 11 and 12, before a bogey on 13 and a double on 17 resulted in a one-over 37. Joining Lindsey in a tie for 27th were teammates Ashley Aguilera and Patricia Arana. Aguilera struggled through most of the day but recovered nicely, finishing her round with an eagle three on the par five 18th to come in with an 80. Arana also finished strong but totaled 80, recording seven pars in her final nine holes for a backside 39. The Owls remained in the top three in a number of individual statistical categories after Tuesday's round. Lindsey is currently second in par three scoring (2.75), while Lazenby and Aguilera are tied for third in par five scoring at 4.88. Malin Becker, who recorded a second-straight 82, is tied for third with five birdies. Campbell climbed into the team lead after turning in a 290 total on Tuesday. The Camels' 590 has them three strokes ahead of host Stetson and 12 shots clear of third place East Tennessee State. The Hatters' Lauren Cate and Danielle Jackson share the individual lead at an even par 144. Stetson's duo is three shots clear of Belmont's Lorie Warren and East Tennessee State's Nina Muehl who are tied for third.
