Arana Named to A-Sun All-Freshmen Team
May 19, 2009
KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State's Patricia Arana was voted to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshmen Team in a statement released by the conference offices on Monday afternoon. Arana becomes the first-ever Kennesaw State women's golfer to be honored by the A-Sun with a post-season award since the Owls became a member of the conference in 2005-06. "I am very proud of this accomplishment by Patricia," said Kennesaw State head coach Rhyll Brinsmead. " To be the first ever player from Kennesaw State named to an Atlantic Sun Conference team is a great achievement. This recognition shows the progress our program is making, I look forward to receiving many more awards in the years to come." A native of Barcelona, Spain, Arana finished her freshman season with a Top 20 showing at the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Victoria Hills Golf Club last month. Her 16-over par 232 at the conference championships was her fourth Top 20 finish of the season, the most of any Owl this year. She also had a pair of Top ten finishes, placing seventh at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational while finishing sixth at the Samford Intercollegiate. Arana led Kennesaw State in stroke average at 77.3 and win/loss percentage with a .736 mark as she competed in six events. Her best round of the season came in the third and final round of the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational when she finished with her lowest three round score of the year, a 4-over par 220. |
