April 28, 2009

KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head coach Scott Whitlock has announced that Thursday afternoon's doubleheader between Kennesaw State and Tennessee Tech scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Bailey Park has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

With the cancellation of the games, the season is now completed for Kennesaw State who finished its fourth and final re-classification season with a 21-30 overall record and a 7-13 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference.

The Owls season ended on Saturday afternoon with a split of a doubleheader with East Tennessee State. The Owls won their final game of the season, 4-2, as they came-from-behind to beat the Buccaneers on a two-run home run by Klair Wells and an insurance run on a solo homer run by senior Jacki Warren in her final collegiate at-bat.

Tennessee Tech (24-29) won two prior meetings with the Owls this season, winning 7-6 in eight innings and 5-2 on Feb. 14 when they participated in the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament at Bailey Park.

Kennesaw State, who finished in seventh place in the A-Sun this season, will be eligible for post-season next season. Tennessee Tech is currently in fifth place in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Owls finished their four-year transition period with a 139-84 overall record and had a 50-30 record in Atlantic Sun Conference games.
