In Search of .500

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw State women's tennis team will attempt to push its overall record to an even .500, and its conference record two matches above that mark, when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. this weekend for a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference matches against Lipscomb and Belmont.

"If we play well and play with heart, this could be a very successful weekend for us," said a positive Kennesaw State Head Coach Brandon Padgett on the possibility of walking away from the weekend with an improved record.

The Owls, who are currently 7-9 overall and 3-3 against the A-Sun, are coming off of a three-match homestand that saw them go 1-2 against some of the top teams in the conference. Their win came on Sunday when they defeated Florida Gulf Coast 6-1.

Three Owl individuals have recorded many more wins than losses this season to lead the team. Vera Shkundina leads the way with an 11-4 mark at No. 1, with Agatha Palider and MacKenzie Swindall trailing just behind with 9-4 and 8-4 records respectively.

Lipscomb is currently 5-9 overall and 0-5 against the conference. The Bisons will be riding a five-match losing streak into their 1 p.m. Friday tilt with the Owls. Belmont is 6-9 and also winless versus the A-Sun at 0-7. The Bruins will host Mercer at 2 p.m. on Friday before welcoming the Black and Gold to the Davis Complex for a 10 a.m. Saturday match.

A recap of the action will be available on the Kennesaw State Athletics home page following the conclusion of play each day.
