CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - In their last meet before the conference championships, the Owls finished strong, placing second at the Front Runner Invitational in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Saturday, October 11.

Mackenzie Howe led the Owls in the two mile race, finishing second with a time of 11:11. She was followed by Soibhan Wolcott in eighth (11:43), Kristen Gibson in 12th (11:52), Catilin German in 27th (13:07), Lorena Jaime in 29th (13:20), and Katie Charles in 38th (14:14). Forty seven runners participated in the race.

"The girls ran strong," Assistant Coach Jason Waters said. "Mackenzie had probably the best race I have seen her run this season. I think she is mentally prepared for the challenges that will come up at conference.

"I think a lot of our girls are really getting into the best shape they have been this season, so if we continue on that path through the next couple of weeks, we should be able to upset some people at conference."

The Owls will return to action when they travel to Macon, Ga., to compete in the Front Runner Invitational on November 1.
